About Simpsonville

From a Post Office Called Plain

Simpsonville started as a crossroads where the Old Stage Road met a former Cherokee trail. In 1838 a farmer named Peter Simpson set up a blacksmith shop there, and the same year the area was given a post office called Plain.

The Greenville and Laurens Railroad reached the area in the mid-1880s, and merchant Sidney J. Wilson surveyed a town and began selling lots. Around the same time the Plain post office took the name Simpsonville, and the town was incorporated on August 13, 1901.

In 1907 the town recruited the brothers John and Edward Woodside to build the Simpsonville Cotton Mill. In 1953 Greenville's water lines were extended through Mauldin, Simpsonville and Fountain Inn, and a local reporter named the corridor the Golden Strip.

Visit Frequency

How Often Is Often Enough?

Twice Weekly

Two visits a week keeps the gap between cleanings shortest. It may suit a household with several dogs, or a yard where children and guests spend a lot of time. If you find yourself picking up between weekly visits, this is the option to ask about.

Twice-weekly service isn't available at every address. Ask about yours before you plan around it, and have a weekly plan in mind in case it isn't offered where you live.

Ask how the two visits are spaced through the week at your address, so you know roughly when the yard will be at its cleanest.

Weekly or Biweekly

Weekly is the middle option. Waste builds up for about a week between visits. If you have more than one dog and want a schedule without picking up yourself in between, start your comparison here.

Biweekly means one visit every other week. It can suit a single small dog, or a household where someone picks up now and then between visits. If the yard looks rough by the second week, weekly is the next step to consider.

Yard size matters, but the number of dogs and how much time your family spends outside often matter more when choosing between the two.

Signs the Schedule Is Off

A frequency that looked right on paper can feel wrong after a month. If you are scooping the day before every visit, or the kids avoid part of the yard by the end of the gap, the visits may be too far apart.

The opposite can happen too. If there is very little to pick up each time, a longer gap may be enough. Ask the crew about changing your frequency rather than staying on a schedule that doesn't fit.

Your own routine can shift too. If the family spends more time outside at certain times of year, a schedule that worked before may stop keeping up.

Other Ways to Start

Monthly, One-Time and Bucket Options

Monthly Visits Have Limits

Monthly service is for one dog and a yard of up to 1/8 acre. If that describes your home, it is the lightest recurring option. With two dogs or a bigger yard, compare biweekly or weekly instead.

A month is a long gap. Monthly tends to work when someone in the house already picks up from time to time and wants the crew to catch what gets missed.

Check monthly against your actual yard before choosing it. If you aren't sure whether your lot is over 1/8 acre, give the size when you ask and let the crew confirm which options fit.

Not Ready for a Schedule?

A one-time cleanup gives you a clean starting point without choosing a recurring plan. Afterward, you can see how fast the yard fills back up and pick a frequency from there.

If you would rather scoop yourself, Bucket Service is a separate year-round service. You fill the crew's bucket, and the crew changes out the bags each week.

A one-time cleanup can also come before a recurring plan starts, so the first scheduled visit begins with a clear yard. Ask whether that makes sense for yours.

Questions to Ask While Comparing

Before you settle on a plan, ask whether twice-weekly visits reach your address, how a one-time cleanup differs from your first recurring visit, and what the crew needs to know about gates and dogs.

If odor matters to you, ask about adding Yard Deodorizing to the schedule you pick. The quote form starts with your ZIP code, and the crew is a phone call or email away for anything it doesn't answer.

If more than one person in the house handles yard matters, agree on who will be the contact for gate access and schedule questions before the first visit.
