About Greer
The Flag Stop That Became a City
Greer started as a stop on the railroad. In 1873 the Richmond and Danville Air Line set up a flag stop on Manning Greer's land, known as Greer's Depot or Greer's Station. On March 25, 1876, 15 men voted to charter the town of Greer's, with William C. Bailey as its first mayor.
Four cotton mills were running by 1908. In 1914 the Piedmont and Northern laid a second rail line through town, and farmers used it to ship cotton and peaches out of state. By the late 1920s the town's markets sold about nine thousand bales of cotton a year.
In 1992 BMW chose Greer for its automobile plant, which opened in November 1994. The downtown historic district is still called Greer Station, after the old flag stop, and the city marked its 150th birthday in 2026.

Odor Questions
Removal First, Then Treatment
Why Scooping Comes First
A treatment doesn't take the place of picking up. Yard Deodorizing is an add-on to scooping, so the waste comes out of the yard before anything else happens.
If the yard has gone a while without a cleanup, a one-time visit may be the place to start. For a dog-use area that smells between cleanings, ask about regular scooping with deodorizing added.
Ask the crew what each treatment is meant to do, so you know what you are adding to the scooping and what you are not.
Tell the Crew Where the Smell Is
Be specific. Is the smell strongest by the patio, along a fence line, in a dog run or across the whole yard? Is it worse on certain days, or right before the next cleaning?
Also mention how many dogs use the area and how often it gets scooped now. These answers help the crew suggest whether more frequent scooping, a treatment, or both is worth trying.
If the dogs use a gravel run, a patio or artificial turf, say so. Surfaces differ, and the crew can tell you which options apply to yours. A photo sent by email can help as well.
Deodorizing and Wysiwash Sanitizing
The crew offers deodorizing for the areas where dogs spend time. You can also ask about Wysiwash yard sanitizing. They are different treatments, and the crew can explain how they differ and which one suits your yard.
For Wysiwash, ask whether it is available for your yard, whether it includes two coats and spot treatment, and whether the crew will need your outside water connection. Every yard is different, so ask what to expect from a treatment instead of assuming the result.
Ask about cost and how often a treatment would be repeated before you decide. Those details belong in your quote, not in a general web page.
If only one spot bothers you, such as the run by the back door, say so and ask whether a treatment can be limited to that area.
Yard DeodorizingBefore You Book
Questions Worth Asking
Do You Need a Treatment Yet?
Sometimes the honest answer is to try regular scooping on its own first. If waste has been sitting for days at a time, a shorter gap between visits may change more than a treatment would.
Give the new schedule a few weeks. If the smell still bothers you, add deodorizing then, knowing the scooping side is already handled.
Keep a note of when and where the smell bothers you. After a few weeks, you have something concrete to discuss with the crew rather than a general impression.
Preparing the Yard
Ask what preparation a treatment needs, when your dogs can use the treated area again, and whether anything should be moved out of the way first.
Point out gardens, play equipment and any part of the yard you would rather leave untreated. Mention a gate that needs to stay shut or a dog that will be outside. These details are easier to settle before the visit than during it.
If you have a lawn service or sprinklers on a timer, mention them as well, so the treatment can be planned around other yard work.
Odor at Managed Properties and With Bucket Service
At a managed property, smell may come from a busy pet area or a waste station that isn't emptied often enough. The crew can scoop common areas and install and maintain stations, including replacing bags and waste liners and cleaning around the station.
At home, if you scoop yourself, Bucket Service takes the bagged waste away each week instead of leaving it in your household trash. It is a separate year-round service.
For a property, describe where complaints come from and how often stations are emptied now. That gives the crew a starting point for a plan, and it may show that station upkeep matters more than a treatment.
