About Easley

Named for a Railroad Lawyer

Easley began with a railroad deal. In 1873, as the Atlanta and Charlotte Air Line was being finished through Pickens County, Robert Elliott Holcombe offered to build a depot at his own expense. He then laid out town lots around it and sold them.

Holcombe asked that the town be named for William King Easley, an attorney for the rail line, rather than for himself. The General Assembly chartered the town on January 20, 1874, and Holcombe became its first intendant, or mayor. The first cotton mill was begun in 1890, with Glenwood Cotton Mills following in 1902 and Alice Mills in 1910.

A second railroad shaped the Easley people use today. The Pickens Doodle began running the 8.5 miles to Pickens in 1898, and because its engine could not be turned around, it ran backward from Easley to Pickens. Freight service ended in 2013, and the line reopened as the Doodle Trail on Memorial Day weekend 2015.

Start With the Type of Visit

If you want the crew to walk the yard, compare regular scooping with a single cleanup. If odor is a problem too, ask about adding Yard Deodorizing.

Choosing a Service

Decide Who Does the Scooping

Let the Crew Handle the Yard

Residential Service means the crew walks the part of the yard you agree on and picks up the dog waste there. You can set it up as a recurring visit or ask for a single cleanup. If nobody in the house wants to pick up after the dogs, start here.

Recurring visits come twice weekly, weekly, biweekly or monthly. Monthly service is for one dog and a yard of up to 1/8 acre, so a household with more dogs or more ground should compare the shorter gaps. Twice-weekly visits depend on the address. Ask before you plan around them.

On a recurring plan the crew comes back on a set rhythm, so you aren't the one keeping track of when the yard was last done. For a busy household, that is most of the appeal.

Keep Scooping and Hand off the Waste

Some people don't mind the scooping. What they want is the waste gone, rather than sitting in the trash can until collection day. Bucket Service, a small side service, covers that. You scoop into the crew's five-gallon bucket, and each week the crew changes out the bags. It runs year-round and is its own service, not a smaller version of a yard visit.

The crew doesn't walk the yard on a bucket stop, so anything you miss stays where it is. If the yard has gotten ahead of you, one way to split the work is a single cleanup first and Bucket Service after it. Ask whether that pairing works for your address.

How Bucket Service Works

Adding Odor Treatment

Yard Deodorizing is an add-on for the areas where your dogs spend time. It goes alongside scooping rather than replacing it. If the smell near the back door or a favorite corner of the yard is what bothers you most, mention it when you ask about service.

Wysiwash yard sanitizing is a separate option to ask about. The crew can explain how the two treatments differ and whether either one is available for your yard.

Getting Started With an Easley Crew

Where a One-Time Cleanup Fits

A single cleanup is useful when you aren't sure yet what you need. Maybe the yard went a few weeks without attention, or you moved into a house where the last owner's dogs left more behind than you expected.

After that visit, watch how quickly the waste builds up again. That tells you more about the right frequency than a guess made before anyone has looked at the yard. You may find a regular schedule makes sense, or that you would rather scoop yourself and use Bucket Service.

When you ask, say roughly how long it has been since the last cleanup and how big the yard is. A yard that went a whole season without scooping is a different job from one that missed a week or two.

Close to Home Still Means Checking

The Scoop Crew is a locally owned business based out of Easley. The same phone number and email work whether you are asking about a yard, a bucket or a property, so one call or email reaches the crew about any of them.

Living near the home base doesn't settle the schedule on its own. Visits follow the crew's routes, so check your exact address through the quote form or with the crew before you count on a particular frequency.

What to Have Ready

The quote form on the home page starts with your ZIP code. Before you begin, know how many dogs use the yard, which parts of it you want cleaned, and how often you think you want a visit.

Note how the crew will get in, too. A latched gate, a lock or dogs that will be outside during the visit are all worth mentioning early. If the quote form leaves something open, such as gate access, an add-on or a mix of services, call or email before you sign up.
